Sacred Journey Recovery Mobile App Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Sacred Journey Recovery handles information in the Sacred Journey Recovery mobile application. It is written for the mobile app and is separate from the public website privacy policy.
App scope
The app is an invite-only recovery support companion for authorized Sacred Journey Recovery participants and staff. It supports program schedules, sobriety tracking, fitness training, recovery community features, messaging, account controls, and support resources.
Information we collect
Depending on your role and use of the app, we may collect:
- Account and profile information, such as name, email address, role, and user ID.
- Recovery and wellness information, such as sobriety dates, goals, milestones, check-ins, schedule items, and program-related app activity.
- Optional spending information entered into sobriety trackers, such as estimated daily cost and what the spending was for, used to calculate in-app savings.
- Fitness information, such as fitness profile details, workout plans, exercise activity, and AI fitness consent records.
- User content, such as direct messages, channel messages, posts, uploaded photos or videos, documents, and support requests.
- Technical and security information needed to operate the app, such as authentication records, access controls, audit/security records, device push notification tokens, and basic diagnostic information.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Authenticate users and provide authorized app access.
- Operate recovery support, scheduling, sobriety, fitness, community, messaging, and account features.
- Allow authorized staff to support participants through the program.
- Send privacy-preserving notifications and route users to relevant in-app content.
- Maintain security, audit access, troubleshoot issues, and comply with applicable obligations.
- Respond to support requests and account deletion requests.
AI fitness features
AI fitness features are optional and require in-app consent before use. If you consent, your fitness profile and AI trainer messages may be sent to Amazon Bedrock to generate workout guidance and chat responses. AI output is for supportive fitness guidance only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, emergency care, or a replacement for staff, clinicians, or crisis resources. Do not share crisis, emergency, or highly sensitive information with AI features.
Sharing and service providers
We do not sell app data or use app data for third-party advertising or tracking. Information may be shared with authorized Sacred Journey Recovery personnel and service providers that help operate the app, such as hosting, authentication, storage, push notification delivery, app distribution, and AI processing providers. Service providers are limited to using information to provide services for the app.
HIPAA and program records
Some information in the app may be health information or program-related information. Where applicable, use and disclosure of protected health information may also be governed by Sacred Journey Recovery's HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices or other program policies.
Security
The app uses access controls, secure session handling, encrypted transport, role-based permissions, and other safeguards designed to protect user information. No system can guarantee perfect security, so users should keep their sign-in credentials private and report suspected unauthorized access.
Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as needed to operate the app, support the program, maintain security and audit records, comply with applicable obligations, and resolve disputes. Client and alumni users can request account deletion in the app from Profile > Privacy & Data > Delete Account. Staff users, or users who cannot access the app, can contact support for identity-verified assistance. Some information may be retained when required or permitted by law, clinical/program policy, security needs, audit requirements, backups, or legitimate business needs.
Children
The app is intended for authorized program participants and staff. It is not intended for public self-service use by children.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app, legal requirements, or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
